S
chools Support Service began with the idea of providing low-key
security officers in and around schools to prevent intruders entering
school buildings, to keep students and teachers safe, and even to
keep a look-out for angry parents.
These officers often find themselves acting as Mentors to the pupils,
helping them with problems yet also preventing them from leaving
school at the wrong times, wandering the corridors when they should
be in class, and fighting at playtime or behaving inappropriately.
The Mentor's role also involves travelling on school buses in
the early morning before school starts and after school lessons
have ended. This duty has proved very popular with other bus passengers. |
